2015 LAGOS CARNIVAL

The 2015 Lagos Carnival comes up on Saturday 9th May.

Lagos State has a long history of holding Carnivals, particularly on Lagos Island, as a result of historical links with the returnees and their descendants from Brazil, West Indies and Sierra Leone in the late 19th century.

The Lagos Carnival can’t be ignored as the carnival as always proves to be better always with fun in a more energetic pattern. Lagos is indeed in the mood for Carnival.This edition of the Lagos Carnival is tagged “FIESTA”.

In the past, Carnival has been held during the Easter weekend, on Easter Monday, This year however, the carnival was shifted due to the postponement of the general elections in Nigeria. The Easter weekend fell in between the two election dates. It would have been impossible to hold carnival at the time.

There will not be a Junior Carnival this year as the date is well within the school session without a holiday weekend. The 36 adult groups will however perform as always.

Band parades from Awolowo Road, Campos Square, and to Tafawa Balewa Square which is already bubbling with expecting hundreds of thousands attendee.

We will share with you colourful pictures from the event as fashion, style, originality are being showcase at the end of the day as we plan on being live on ground.
